Mika, born as Amrik Singh, born on June 10, 1977, in Durgapur[2], West Bengal is a bhangra/rap singer. His father Ajmer Singh Chandan is a trained classical musician of the old school. His mother Balbir Kaur was also aware of folk music. He is the youngest brother of the six Mehndi brothers(with famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi being the eldest. Mika started learning music from his childhood. He began to play tabla at the age of eight. He started playing harmonium when he was 12 and guitar when he was 14. His career evolved from kirtan singer to bhangra/pop artist. He released his debut album Sawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag in 1998, at the age of 24. Since then Mika had given several hit albums like Ishq Brandy, Something Something, Gabru, and Dunali. He gained much media attention for his kiss with Rakhi Sawant in June 2006.[3] Mika is also known for his large audiences at shows, sometimes as large as 60,000 people.[1] He is one of most talented Punjabi singer who has also marked his talent in hindi playback. Recently he has signed a film as an actor with Sunil Shetty's production house for a film named Loot. He has also composed and sung the famous song \"Ganpat\" from the film Shootout at Lokhandwala. Also, one of his songs, \"Something Something\" was a hit in India. He has also sung the hit song \"Mauja Hi Mauja \" from Jab We Met.. He also has a track from Singh Is Kinng in his kitty. He has taken part in a couple of reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Jhoom India. Mika is also set to release his 5th studio album in 2008 which is highly anticipated due to the involvement of Vikas Kohli and the work done at the Fatlabs studio in Canada.[4]
