She is the youngest married actress in the television industry. The perky 24-year-old Shilpa Saklani Agnihotri, who married chocolate hero Apoorva Agnihotri two years ago, says their honeymoon phase isn't over yet. Her work pattern, her daily routine and her lifestyle remain the same.
"Nothing much has changed. Only now I'm a wife and have the responsibility of a home and a husband," she says. Since her husband is out of town and it's her day off, Shilpa lounges about her posh Lokhandwala home, and invites us over
1. come into my parlour
Shilpa moved into their 1,100 sq.ft. home in the suburbs a year and half ago. "After we got married Appu and I lived in his Yari Rd flat," she informs. Buying a bigger flat was a step up for the Agnihotris, who share their space with Apoorva's mother. A simple family with simpler tastes – that's how they can be best described.
2. 'Bean' there done that
Part of their bedroom is a sit-out area, where the two take their tea...and talk about everyday life. "I'm working because I wanted to be financially independent. My husband is doing well, but I wanted to be supportive, instead of being completely dependent on him."
3. kitchen calling
When they moved in, Shilpa was sure of one thing: hers was not to be a dull kitchen. And so the choice of red and yellow tiles. "The minute you enter my kitchen, you feel inspired to cook." Though her busy schedule doesn't allow her much time Shilpa does manage to make some good old alu and paneer prathas.
4. Potty about plants
They couldn't afford an interior decorator when they moved in. So, the petite actress took over. The bright yellow, orange and lime green colours used in her drawing room are a reflection of Shilpa's vivacious personality. "I have a fetish for plants," smiles the actress, indicating the potted plants placed strategically in the apartment.
5. Living On the edge
Her balcony is an apt place for Shilpa to day-dream about the future. She wants to have two kids at least, the actress states. And she's confident she'll make a billiant mother. "I'd prefer to take a break from work after I have babies. That's when I will happily play the role of a housewife."
