Namratha Sadhana (Nagma) was born to a Muslim mother and a Hindu father on Decemebr, 25, 1974. She is a well known name in Bollywood, Tolllywood and other regional languages movies in southern India and has a brother and a sister named Jyothika, who is also a promising Bollywood and Tollywood actress.Namratha Sadhana rechristened herself as
Nagma before her debut Bollywood movie Baaghi with young and handsome Salman Khan
in 1990. However, this movie did not fare well at box office, she then appeared in few other Hindi movies like Hasti (1992), Dilawale Kabhi Na Hare (1993), and none of these movies
was a success at box office.
Then Nagma move to South India to try her luck in regional movies at the behest of her friend Divya Bharath. She was fleshy, plump, so her effort there clicked because she was a complete package for south Indian audiences. She did many films there and enjoyed status of fiery actress, good dancer, and the glamour queen and ruled the scene for long time until she finally returned to the Bollywood to restore her flopped career.
Her major hits in Telugu were Gharana Mogudu with Chiranjeevi in 1993, Allari Alludu with Nagarjuna and Major Chandrakanth with NTR and Mohan Babu. Her Tamil hits were few with Basha with super star Rajnikanth and Kadhalan with Prabhudeva. During this period she was involved in a relationship with Tamil actor Sarath Kumar. She acted in some Telugu and Tamil movies such as Allari Ramudu and Citizen as supporting cast. As she was ruling the south Indian movies, she was romantically involved with actor Sarath Kumar, but the relationship ended soon, and she decided to move back to Bollywood.
Upon return to the Bollywood, her career could not thrive as she has expected, she did films like Subse Bada Khiladi, Yalgaar with Sanjay Dutt, Kunwara but she was unsuccessful making her name for lead roles. Nagma is currently ruling Bhojpuri movies where she found success as a leading lady and she shares a good on-screen match with Big Boss reality show participant Ravi Kishen.
During 2005, Nagma was on limelight for bad reasons too. She was once in news for being paid Rs 10 lakhs by Anees's henchmen at her Mumbai residence in return for sexual pleasures enjoyed by Anees with her during the shooting of Yalgaar in Mauritius (1992). She also got involved in a fling with cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Fluent in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and English, Nagma is notable for having acted in a broad range of India's languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, and Marathi
